How to make Grace DM 20th December 2025 The twenty-first of December in Australia is called ‘Gravy Day’, by virtue of Paul Kelly’s famous song
The cult-classic, The Princess Bride has many famous and memorable lines, including this one describing the triumphal lip-smack of the leading characters, Wesley and Buttercup: “Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind.” The movie doesn’t identify what those other five kisses were, so it’s hard to offer a critical comment.
There is one however that would not make the list, but would leave them all behind in terms of its passion and impurity. The Book records the story of a traitor, who set his heart to betray his Master for the princely sum of thirty silver pieces. In order to pocket the money, he led a team of religious police to a Garden, where he proceeded to identify his Master with a kiss. The Recipient, said one writer, expressed his deep sorrow that someone would take a choice gift from a generous Creator, and twist and distort it, invert and abuse it.
There is another kiss however that would not only make the list, but would radically change the rankings – repositioning that of Wesley and Buttercup to third position, placing daylight second, and then taking top place. A verse in Psalm 85 expresses the spectacular lip-smack: “Unfailing love and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed!” Kapow! What a kiss! Of grace. Of holiness. Of purity. Of truth. Of peace. Of righteousness. Of love. Of life. Of Jesus
